Anyone order some alcohol? On Monday, the governor of Georgia passed a bill that lets certain businesses deliver alcoholic beverages to client homes. Georgia is the latest state to alter or expand alcohol delivery rules during the current pandemic. This rule was launched to limit social interactions and slow the spread of the virus.
The bill, HB879, permits wine, beer, and liquor to be delivered under specific circumstances. Though the rule does not go into effect for a few months, restaurants, bars, convenience stores, and a few grocery and retail stores are advised to prepare for this new feature. Per the law, products are allowing allowed to be accepted by a person 21 years or older with proper identification ready. This law is music to a lot of businesses’ ears, as many businesses are struggling due to restrictions pertaining to the shutdown.
As we move through the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have to transform to meet state requirements and still stay afloat. However, some businesses were already thinking ahead of consumer demands for delivery of goods from factory to home way before the pandemic hit. An example would be Drizly, an online liquor store.
