The result made Beeple, who is little known in the mainstream art world, the third most expensive living artist at auction, after David Hockney and Jeff Koons.
According to The New York Times, the buyer felt like he got a steal! The artwork, titled “Everyday—The First 5,000 Days,” was created by Mike Winkelmann (aka Beeple). It is a collage made from images that the artist had posted online since 20007 and was “minted” specifically for the Christie’s auction.
